Résumé |
The Shouldice Hospital is world famous for its successful hernia surgery and its policy of getting patients back on their feet within hours - rather than the typical weeks - of a hernia operation. In this documentary, The Fifth Estate visits Shouldice Hospital in its country-club setting north of Toronto, following a patient from arrival to departure, through two operations in which the Shouldice technique of repairing torn muscles with stainless steel is demonstrated. Thousands of patients from around the world, especially the U.S., come to Shouldice Hospital and reunite at the hospital's annual reunion and check-up. |
